Games and apps that wait for you to lean in.

Araneid Interactive is a one-person studio building atmospheric games and local-first apps — small, deliberate things with more underneath them than the first minute lets on.

How we work

An araneid is an orb-weaver. The name is a working method.

  • Built from an anchor line

An orb-weaver throws one thread across a gap and everything else hangs off it. Each project here starts the same way: one mechanic that has to hold, proven before a single thing is decorated.

  • Structure you can feel

A web is radial threads for tension and a spiral for capture, and nothing that isn't one of the two. Small teams cannot afford ornament, so systems are built to be legible — to the player first, and to the next person reading the code second.

  • Rebuilt nightly

Orb-weavers eat the old web and spin a new one when it stops working. Nothing here is precious. A mechanic that isn't earning its place comes out, and the version that ships is the one that survived being taken apart.

Mobile Journal

A journal that stays on your phone, and reads like a book.

A local-first journal with no account, no sync and no server to trust. Write by typing or by voice, and read the result back as a bound book rather than a feed. The storage layer is encrypted on the device and the app asks for nothing it does not need.

Mayday

Round-based horde survival, drafted upgrades, four players.

A first-person roguelite zombie shooter: the escalating rounds and points economy of round-based survival, wrapped in a run structure with on-level-up upgrade drafts and between-run progression. Online co-op for one to four players.

Tarot

A reading app that respects the deck and the reader.

A tarot app built for people who actually read: full decks with real card art, spreads you can lay out yourself, and a journal that remembers what you drew and what came of it. No horoscope engine, no daily-notification treadmill.

Come and say something.

Questions about a game go one way; contracts, publishing and funding go the other. Both reach a person, and neither goes to a queue.
